Lebanon Explosion: A huge explosion occurred in a warehouse containing 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. A huge blood-colored mushroom cloud rose instantly over the city.

At least 100 people were killed and more than 4,000 injured in the explosion. And the hospitals in the city are full and can no longer accept the wounded.

Lebanese President Michel Aoun said Beirut will implement a two-week state of emergency. And called for an emergency cabinet meeting on the 5th.

Lebanon Explosion is an Attack or disaster?

Ammonium nitrate is a compound. Mainly used in agriculture as a high-nitrogen fertilizer, it is also a common industrial explosive.

Ammonium nitrate is an extremely insensitive explosive in terms of sensitivity. At the same time, it is more insensitive than the safety explosive C4 explosive. This means that an industrial 8# detonator (only 6# is needed to detonate C4 explosive) is not enough to detonate ammonium nitrate mixed with sensitizer.

But, because ammonium nitrate itself can provide oxygen for combustion. Therefore, ammonium nitrate stored in large quantities has a high fire risk. However, large fires can easily catalyze the conversion of ammonium nitrate from combustion to the explosion.

Generally speaking, if ammonium nitrate is stored properly, such a catastrophic explosion is unlikely. After all, it has stable performance and is extremely insensitive, and once it is dissolved in water, the detonation sensitivity is greatly reduced.

Abbas Ibrahim, director of the Lebanese General Security Agency, once said that the explosion center contained “highly explosive materials.” After that, President Aoun confirmed this statement.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that before the big explosion, a warehouse containing fireworks in the port of Beirut suddenly caught fire inexplicably.

The video taken by witnesses showed that colored sparks flickered in the thick black smoke and splashed around.

US President Trump said when answering reporters’ questions. According to the analysis of some US military officers, the explosion in the Lebanese capital is more like a bomb attack. However, the attacker detonated a large amount of ammonium nitrate stored in the warehouse and further escalated the explosion.

All this weird has to be doubted. So is this a catastrophic accident or a man-made bombing attack?

Lebanon Explosion: Intentionally targeted or unintentionally affected?

When the explosion occurred, it was on a hillside less than a mile away (about 1,600 meters). The Lebanese Phalange Party is meeting at its headquarters. Unfortunately, leader Nazar Najarian was injured by falling rubble and died from his injuries.

The Pike Party is one of the main political parties in Lebanon. And it belongs to the pro-Western Christian Maronite sect. Lebanon is one of the most complex multi-ethnic countries in the Middle East.

At the same time, the “sect decentralization system” is implemented politically. This means that the President, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of the National Assembly are respectively held by Christian Maronites, Sunni Islamists, and Shiite Islamists.

Generally speaking, Christian Maronites and moderate Sunnis stand on the same line. They are closer to the West, behind which is the support of Sunni Arab countries such as Saudi Arabia. On the contrary, Shia’s Hezbollah is backed by Syria and Iran.

One theory is that the Lebanese Special Court in The Hague is about to make a verdict on the assassination of Hariri. So Hezbollah wants to preempt and express its dissatisfaction.

Therefore, the explosion accident, which appeared to be an industrial accident, was planned to demonstrate to the “enemy”. And the southern suburbs of Beirut have always been the active area of Hezbollah. But there is no conclusive evidence for this claim.

Misfire or a new form of war?

Similar to the situation in Lebanon, there have been many mysterious explosions in Iran since the end of June.

The damaged buildings included not only Tehran’s medical institutions, production machinery factories, and major power plants, but also Iran’s nuclear production bases and some missile warehouses.

Iran has not yet detected these mysterious accidents. However, it is generally believed that it can easily surpass Iran’s intelligence interception and investigation, and intrude into the engineering control system of Iran’s nuclear facilities to implement a designated explosion. The most likely scenario is secret cooperation between the United States and Israel. After all, these two countries have very advanced cyber warfare forces and intelligence technology capabilities.

At present, the contradictions between Israel and Lebanon Hezbollah and Iran are sharpening.
